2023 Family Physician of the Year

Dr. Padraig Casey of Cornwall PEI.

Dr Padraig Casey was nominated for the his support of multidisciplinary collaborative care as the founding physician of the Patient Medical Home in Cornwall, his leadership as MSPEI President through the COVID-19 pandemic, his role in practising comprehensive inpatient and outpatient family medicine, as well as his significant role in medical education as a teacher, organizer of faculty professional development, and, most recently, his position as Site Director for Dalhousie’s PEI Family Medicine Residency Program

2023 Awards of Excellence

Dr. Adnan Bajelan is a family physician and emergency department physician in West Prince for his commitment and service at the Western Hospital Emergency Department, while also providing primary care to his patient panel.

Dr. Nicole Green has gone above and beyond in showing care and concern for the well-being of her colleagues, not only through her role with the Peer Support Program but in all her day-to-day interactions. She is remarkable in her unfailing generosity of time and emotional energy to help lift those around her at a truly critical time – for many individuals on a personal level as they struggle with burnout or other life stressors, but also as a health system on the brink of collapse.

Dr. Randy MacKinnon for his multidisciplinary, collaborative clinic which set a standard for delivering effective and accessible primary care during the pandemic (PMH) and continues to exemplify the excellent care. His clinical acumen and bedside manner are a model for family medicine. Dr. MacKinnon cares about his community, providing clear and experienced insights into pathways forward for our challenged healthcare system. His contributions to the Medical Society continue to be solid and effective.
